As a Chartered Counselling Psychologist, I specialise in the treatment of Stress, Depression, Anxiety, including OCD, BDD and Heath Anxiety and relationships, using Cognitive and Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness.
Throughout my training as a Counselling Psychologist, and after graduating, I worked at the Priory Hospital in North London under the supervision of Rob Wilson and Dr David Veale, authors of Overcoming OCD. I provided individual and group CBT and specialised CBT treatments for Social Anxiety, OCD and BDD. Later, I worked at the Psychological Therapeutic Services Barnet mental Heath Trust, providing individual and group CBT treatment and establishing therapeutic group programmes as well as training therapists before setting up my private practice in 2009.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy has very clear and defined protocols for each psychological problem and it is therefore important to receive the appropriate specialised assessment and treatment: CBT is the treatment of choice for dealing with stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, obsessive-compulsive disorder and body dysmorphic disorder.
Over the years, I have developed and perfected my approach incorporating the Mindfulness-based Approach to the Cognitive Behavioural Therapy process. The emotional disturbances we experience within ourselves and in our lives are normal reactions to adversity and uncertainty. CBT and Mindfulness help us to become aware of our automatic, often unconscious and unhelpful coping mechanisms by teaching us how to approach them, become familiar with them, less fearful of them, befriend them and relate to them in an open, curious and caring way. That process transforms our experience of ourselves, others and the world.
Throughout the therapy, you gain a greater awareness and understanding and learn new skills that will help you navigate these difficult internal processes and difficult life situations.
