Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is one of the most researched and validated forms of psychotherapy for the treatment of all major psychological problems. The department of health strongly supports and recommend CBT as an effective, evidence-based, time-limited and cost-effective therapy. Mindfulness-based Approach is also being extensively studied and it is taught as an effective way to regulate emotions and increase awareness, creativity and productivity.
I specialise in the treatment of Stress and Anxiety and I have a special interest in treating Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Health anxiety. I also work with all other major psychological problems, Relationship difficulties, Self-esteem and Well-being. If you would like to discuss how we could work together, do not hesitate to contact me so that we can organise a time to talk.
I offer online video sessions Monday to Thursday via Skype, WhatsApp, FaceTime and Zoom by appointment only.
CBT can help you through a wide range of emotional and psychological problems as well as helping you adjust to a wide range of physical illnesses: this approach hypothesises that the emotions we experience and how we behave are determined by the way we think and perceive our self, others and the world we live in.
If our perception of a situation is negative, this will result in negative emotions, negative physiological reactions and unhelpful negative behaviours. By understanding and challenging our negative perception, it is possible to reduce emotional disturbance. CBT teaches you skills and techniques to help you regulate your unhelpful negative thoughts, emotion, physiological sensations and behaviours.
Mindfulness-based Approach (MBSR and MBCT) has been specifically designed to target Stress and is used as a relapse prevention strategy for Depression. Newly published research now also demonstrates that a Mindfulness-based Approach can also be effective in the treatment of Anxiety Disorders, Obsessional Disorder, ADHD, relationship difficulties, low confidence/low self-esteem and the list goes on.
The aim of a Mindfulness-based Approach is to help you become aware of unhelpful automatic internal processes (thoughts, images, emotions, bodily sensations and impulses) and learn to attend to them in an accepting, compassionate, non-judgemental and non-reactive way. This process opens up an array of choices and gives you greater freedom to respond to difficulties in a focussed, calm and clear manner.
